Zebra Dog

Published by kitoy under Humour, Photojournalism

A zebra-designed dog joins its masters at the beach near Sta. Ana wharf on Easter Sunday. It’s been a tradition of Filipinos to celebrate the Easter Sunday at the beach, which is also the end of the Holy Week.

Lost in Uyanguren

Published by kitoy under Business, Photojournalism

At P3 each, you might be satisfied with this pork barbecue sold along the streets in Uyanguren area in Davao City. This vendor is just one of the several vendors in the area selling vegetables and fish. It’s like a flea market in the evening.

Palm Sunday: Holy Water Crisis

Published by kitoy under Photojournalism

Davao Auxiliary Bishop George Rimando tells the churchgoers: “O, wala nay tubig, sige na, sige na.”

That’s the story of the photo above. Bishop Rimando ran out of Holy Water and some of the palm fronds of the  churchgoers were not yet blessed. So the people just walked away and failed to have their palm fronds blessed. Why he didn’t tell the  people to wait then get another bottle of Holy Water? Is it really like that? No more refill once they ran out of Holy Water? Weird.

Not just the PSG but as well as some Presidential Management Staff people. Continue Reading »

Photo Essay: Datal Bonlangon

Published by kitoy under Human Rights, Photojournalism

Since 1991, several Lumad families have been displaced due to the expansion of Consunji-owned coffee plantation in the hinterlands of Barangay Ned, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. The villagers are now struggling to reclaim their ancestral domain.

The Lumads families, mostly T’bolis, says the expansion of the coffee plantation is choking them as they have almost nothing left to cultivate.

Aside from this slideshow, a 7-minute video documentary about the village can viewed here.

Maligaya ka ba sa taxi mo?

Published by kitoy under Business, Opinion, Photojournalism

Sometime last week, I read on Dateline Davao regarding the green-plate bearing Maligaya Taxi. Now, I was able to take a photo myself — of the taxi with a green plate. Taxi cabs are suppose to use the yellow ones. But look at the photo below.
