BBQs of Kidapawan

Published by kitoy under Photojournalism, Travel

About four years ago, a native chicken barbecue costs P25-30 only. Just last week, I learned that it’s already P45 a stick. Almost everything today goes up, — fuel, rice, etc. Suweldo, kelan kaya? :)

Early this year, the drainage system in this portion of JP Laurel Avenue in Bajada was repaired. But I wonder why it’s still flooded whenever there’s heavy rain. There was a time that the flood water submerged the floor of Chowking. Some vehicles could not cross, too. They would turn around and look for other routes.

Hungry Hands

Published by kitoy under News, Opinion, Photojournalism

I was in Bankerohan market this morning with Davao Today’s Barry Ohaylan. It’s so distressing to see these people queue and waited for the NFA rice retailer to release the mandated two kilos of rice for each person. Most of them said that they’ve started to line up as early as 1a.m.! Then as the rice dealer came in to the crowd and distributed number tags, the crowd became pretty unruly as they scuffle to get the tags. Continue Reading »

Bora: Davao Style

Published by kitoy under Photojournalism

After transacting at the bank in Landco building in Bajada on Saturday, I spotted this guy walking towards a vacant lot. Then he suddenly laid down as if he was having a sunbathing in Boracay!

As walked back to nearby Chowking, he stood and also walked towards my direction. He walked casually as if he’s in the beaches of Bahamas. While inside Chowking, I still managed to to take few shots.

I wonder why the police or anyone may have tried to stop him because it seems that he walked all the way from McDonalds then across the JP Laurel Ave.

Biking priest finally home after 56-day “bike for life & peace”

I really salute Redemptorist priest Amado “Fr. Picx” Picardal for his bold effort — the “bike for life and peace,” which covered 5, 164 kilometers around the country. The journey ended today, May 18 at the Redemptorist church in Bajada, Davao City. Fr. Picx endured harsh weather conditions along the road to convey his message to the people around the country.

When he reached the Palace on April 27, guards barred him from entering the premises of the Palace. It’s nothing but a sign of government’s paranoia. It’s really frustrating to see Fr. Picx being barred at the checkpoint. The guards even alerted nearby police when he came closer to the guard house.

But anyway, that’s over. Let’s just hope that Fr. Picx message was loud enough so that the government would heed his call.
