They type of gear you’re using is not really an issue for me. It’s how you use and and how you come up with an impressive output. A lot of discussion boards have discussed this issue on the latest cameras from Canon and Nikon.
I can’t discuss the whole thing here because I’m not an expert on this. I’m using Canon system but when I’d look at the others’ photos, I don’t really ask what type of camera they are using. I’m not counting the megapixel, I’m more concerned on what’s in the megapixel
Let me share with you here a review of both cameras, which I came across in the world wide web. Both are great cameras.Sadly, I can’t afford them.
Canon vs Nikon

As previously reported, I ordered my Nikon D3 and my Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III at the same time, back in September. I’d recently also written about seeing a D3 “in the wild” when covering a White House event, and I was eager to get my hands on my own.
That surprisingly happened all on the same day, yesterday, Friday the 7th, when both cameras arrived, separately, from Adorama. The first thing I did was call my friend Mark Finkenstaedt, a die-hard Canon photographer, and invite him over to have a look-see at both bodies, as they were unboxed, make a few photographs of them, and with them, and generally have some fun with what is otherwise sometimes a dry “review”. It’s been years that I wanted to shoot anywhere in Sarangani. A friend of mine who works at the provincial government has been inviting me too but I could hardly find time to visit his awesome province. Recently, I asked another friend if he could go with me somewhere in Gensan or any nearest town to shoot at any fishing community. It’s just for self-satisfaction and for my photo bank. I’ve already posted the first part of my Street Photoghraphy collections on my Multiply account. Comments are welcome :-)
So what’s Street Photography anyway? It is a type of documentary photography that usually features people in candid situations in public places such as streets, parks, beaches, malls, political conventions, and other settings. That’s what Mr. Wikipedia says:-)

On the latest issue of I-Mag Photography magazine, it features two of the top photojournalists in the country — Albert Garcia and Aaron Favilla. Both are really hardcore photojournalist — covered the most important events that unfolded in history.
On the other hand, I’ve also stumbled on an article that talks about the freelance photojournalism and how is it being “destroyed” by photo agencies… well, that’s what this old Digital Journalist article is saying.
How the agencies are destroying FREELANCE PHOTOJOURNALISM
It is hard to overstate how the profession of editorial photography is endangered. Magazines and newspapers all seem to be marching in lockstep towards demanding either “work for hire” agreements giving them total rights to material shot on assignment, or other exorbitant demands on the people who helped to provide the original material which publications depended upon to distinguish themselves.
The firewall against the publisher’s demands and the photojournalist has traditionally been the photo agency. The role of the agency, whether it was Black Star, Sygma, Gamma or SABA was to represent the photographer [read on]

After two months of weaving and minting, the Agence Kunwari Presse website is now online. It’s an online photobank formed by young photojournalists coming from different corners of this messy country. The name is quite a joke but its intention is a no joke. The web design is serious as well as the photos too. Buck Pago is the brain of it’s name but when I was in Manila for our on-campus class at the ACFJ at ADMU, I told why not create a website for it? I found it funny and interesting. But I registered the domain and took the name seriously. I collected photos from those who want to join. Continue Reading »

I was about to leave the office yesterday when I got a message Froilan Gallardo asking me join them to shoot the lunar eclipse. I told him I had to go home first because I had to leave Sophie at my pad. But then I decided to bring Sophie so that she could also “witness” the total lunar eclipse (as if she understands it).
So they picked me up at the office at 6pm then we dropped Carol Arguillas first at the Mindanews’ office and we went straight to the Davao Baywalk — it’s where the infamous the Statue of David is erected. I was a bit excited because t’was my first time to shoot the eclipse. I had no idea how to shoot it. I told Froilan that he should have told me earlier because I could have read some tips on the internet :-) Worse, he only brought one tripod! Continue Reading »

Ruby left Sophie with me on Sunday because she went to Malagos for the Flight of the Eagles event. Since Sophie is in my pigeon hole, she has a little room to run and jump. So she just had to play whatever she could find under my bed or anything that she feels like a toy for her.
On lunchtime, I prepared soup bones for her. She was apparently starving as she was waiting in front the stove until it’s cooked. She won’t eat pretty big chunks, as other dogs do. So I had to cut them into small pieces before giving them to her. When she was done with the meat, she grabbed the biggest bone left, little bigger than her bones in the leg.
