Lakambini Bottom

Published by kitoy under Music

From one of my all-time favorite Pinoy rock bands, Datu’s Tribe. During high school days, they popularized the song called “Kwento ni Del” and “Sarsa sa Platoon.”

After over a decade, they are now back with their new album. I wanna get one, soon!

PUPIL’s Next Single: My guess, my choice

Published by kitoy under Music

On New Year’s eve, we were able to catch the year end countdown of NU107. Not bad for Pupil whose carrier single “Sala” from their second album Wildlife landed No.2.

Complete list of NU107 Yearend Countdown for Year 2007.

Now I guess the band’s second carrier single would be “Monobloc.” Haven’t heard or read anything (officially) if what’s that song all about. I’ve tried digging on the search engines to find the answers but i failed to get the right answer.

For me, the song is radio-friendly, the melody is catchy ( it has the hook)the the lyrics is quite deep as well. For you to find or make your own answer, get a copy of the album. Support Pinoy Rock!

Mourning but… rocking…

Published by kitoy under Human Rights, Music, News

The most common song being played during funerals is the “Hindi Kita Malilimutan.” It’s song that would really bring the mourners in tears. It’s like a tradition to Filipinos to play that song every interment.

But when I attended the interment of Fernando ‘ Batman’ Lintuan this morning, right after the mass, the Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” was played because according to his eldest son it’s his dad’s favorite song.

As the the music plays, some Davao journalists ( could be of his age) also sang along with the song. Later on, as a tribute, the journalists requested to replay the song because they wanted to sing it again for Ferdie. Continue Reading »

PUPIL: New album, new drummer

Published by kitoy under Music

WildlifePupil’s second album entitled “Wildlife” is pretty better than their first one — Beautiful Machines. It’s obvious in the album that Ely Buendia and the rest of the gang has really mastered the modern rock. The sound, lyrics and everything is much different from the first album.

The new album came out with their new drummer Wendell Garcia, formerly of Barbie’s Cradle. Garcia replaced Bog Jugo, who used to take the backseat since The Mongols’ era. Continue Reading »

It’s a WILDLIFE!

Published by kitoy under Music

Yes, it’s a Wildlife, everyday is a wildlife. Just like my previous entry, it talks about one of the wild situations in our daily life :-)

But WILDLIFE is also out in the market, that’s the 2nd album of Pupil. The band has finally released their awaited second album with their new drummer Wendell Garcia. Garcia performed with the band for the first time last July 26 at Hard Rock Cafe, Makati City. I’ve checked at the malls here in Davao, the stores here say the stocks have yet to arrive anytime soon. Eric Gancio: Back to the rock scene

Published by kitoy under Music

Published at the Mindanao Times last Saturday, September 22. The original version of this story was my final project for newsgathering subject at the Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Amy Cabusao, editor-in-chief of the Mindanao Times, also shared that she was pregnant then when she first saw Yano live at the Bistro 70s sometime in the early 90s. She recalled Eric and Dong were still reading the lyrics of “Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo” lyrics shortly before the gig. Continue Reading »
