I’m Keith Kristoffer P. Bacongco, a development worker and journalist based in Davao City. I was born in Koronadal City 25 years ago but raised in North Cotabato. I started my career as journalist in 1998 in Cotabato City when I joined a weekly community paper Mindanao News Bulletin and then later The Kutawato Headliner (later known as Headliner). I’ve covered various events in Central Mindanao and even in other areas in Mindanao. I’ve also covered the “all-out war” in 2000, that was kinda “baptism of fire” for myself.

In later part of 2000, I joined the Manila Times (Mindanao Bureau) until mid-2001, when I joined Mindanews, the first online news agency based in Mindanao — run and managed by Mindanaoan journalists. During my stint in Mindanews, Bobby Timonera lured me into the world cyberspace. Bobby taught me the basics of web design and photography, which led to the birth of “Timonera Academy.”

Sometime in 2003, I joined the Salima Musical Theater group as one of the video editors. I worked alongside with Bong Segovia, one of the best digital artists in Philippines. Bong also shared some tips on web design and graphic arts.

Then in mid-2005, I joined the Davao Today, an online news publication based in Davao City. I briefly worked as webmaster until Carlos Conde took over using Wordpress.

In May 2006, I joined the Legal Rights and Natural Resources Center- Kasama sa Kalikasan (LRC-KsK/ FOE Philippines) as Campaigns Paralegal Staff.
