Victoria Plaza’s paranoia
Of all the malls in Davao City, it’s Victoria Plaza that I hated most in terms of their policy on bringing of stuff particularly in the department store section. It’s totally different from other malls in the city.
From the main gates to the entrance of the department store section, their security procedures are very annoying. If I have a camera with me (of course inside the camera bag — backpack type), they would try to ask me to leave it but then I’d tell them: “Why you wouldn’t allow cellphones to be left in the bags at the baggage counter and then you wont allow camera bags inside, which is more expensive? We are not tourists.”
In most cases, when I have my camera bag with me and I wanted to buy something inside the department store, they will allow me to bring it inside but they need to check my bag before I’ll exit. In all shopping malls, the management does not allow any valuable things to be left in the baggage counters.
This is not just happening to me. They are also doing this in every customer who would bring their bags inside. See the inconvenience here? What sucks here is that they (VP management and guards) are sort of assuming or already prejudging the customers as shoplifters. Why they have to check it before you get out of the department store?
Gaisano Malls, NCCC Malls and SM are not doing that. The guards will just check it once, only in the main gates. While in Victoria Plaza, the guards will check your belongings as you enter the main doors then the guards will also check it again before you can enter the department store section. Aren’t they paranoid? I can’t see the logic why they have to double check.
In addition, if you’ll leave your bags or any belongings in the baggage counters of the department store, the guards will check them first before the mall attendant will accept them. Very very inconvenient and causing so much delay. I often ask them: ” Why you need to check it? The guards at the main doors have already checked this.” I didn’t get any answer, since then.
Also, the mall attendants and guards would seal plastic bags once you’ll bring them inside the department store. Especially those plastic bags that are not from them. How can you reuse these plastic bags at home? Because you really have to tear them if you’ll open your goods.
If they are afraid of being robbed, then they should improve their security measures inside the mall without sacrificing the convenience of the mall goers. My point here is that the management should rethink of this policy because it is causing so much inconvenience to their customers. Very inconvenient.

hmmm.. point of advice for shoppers, go somewhere else better to shop, and for the management of victoria plaza = think first before doing… (heheheh..) lol
wala na ko ga adto dira sa VP with those problems. hassle man jud kaayo. mga way batasan pud mga guards.
yeah, i don’t know if the management is aware of that. or at least, they should review their policies.
