Welcome Ratz!
It’s already 2008, welcome to the Year of the Rat.
The United Nations has also declared 2008 as the International Year of the Sanitation. The UN also that 2008 is the International Year of the Potato . “The celebration of the International Year of the Potato (IYP) will raise awareness of the importance of the potato - and of agriculture in general - in addressing issues of global concern, including hunger, poverty and threats to the environment.” So should we expect more French fries meal this year round? Or the rats will feast on the potato farms? Hope they wont do that.
To know more why 2008 is International Year of the Potato, please follow this link.
According for online Feng Shui Store, Year of the Rat is “a great year overall offering good relationships and wealth, although the Rat will need to take care of their health this year especially those who like a tipple, smoke or do not have a good diet or lack in any exercise. “
Oh well, for me I don’t smoke since then but I think I still need to do more exercise given the fact that I have some problems with my heart. Good diet? It’s not a problem for me.
“Please take a look at your health especially if you are a Yang Metal Rat born 1960 as they can suffer most this year with regards to health, the stomach and chest are weak in 2008. If you have a bedroom in the south or northwest and you are a metal Rat place a Wu Lou beside your bed or some metal ornaments that are preferably round in shape,” the site read.In addition: “Money can be very good for Rat this year although you need to take care not to spend too much. If you are employed, job promotions could be on the cards but you will still need to prove yourself. For the Rat born in 1960 & 1972 be careful of relationships as a busy and successful year can make you neglect relationships and your partner may wander. If you have a bedroom or other important room in the west place a statue of Kwan Yin here to dissipate the chances of this happening.”

Just like rats who would sneak in and rob something, some residents in Davao City were able to sneak in some firecrackers and greet 2008 with a bang. We noticed some firecrackers last night particularly in Sasa area. Even an hour before 12 midnight hits the clock, we heard some firecrackers.
This happened despite of the firecracker ban in the city. I was expecting a real “silent night, holy night.”
As of this writing, I haven’t heard anyone get arrested because of using firecrackers last night. Nobody called 911 I guess. Happy New Year!
