Mourning but… rocking…
The most common song being played during funerals is the “Hindi Kita Malilimutan.” It’s song that would really bring the mourners in tears. It’s like a tradition to Filipinos to play that song every interment.
But when I attended the interment of Fernando ‘ Batman’ Lintuan this morning, right after the mass, the Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” was played because according to his eldest son it’s his dad’s favorite song.
As the the music plays, some Davao journalists ( could be of his age) also sang along with the song. Later on, as a tribute, the journalists requested to replay the song because they wanted to sing it again for Ferdie.
On December 24, Ferdie “Batman” Lintuan was murdered near radion station dxGO where he was working. He is the 5th journalist killed in the Philippines in 2007. What a yearender for journalists.
On December 29, cops in Davao City have arrested a suspect believed to be the trigger man.
Cops beef up evidence vs man linked to Lintuan slay
The head of a police task force tracking down perpetrators of the killing of a journalist in Davao City on Sunday said investigators were still gathering more evidence against a suspected killer who was arrested by authorities Friday night. enior Superintendent Benhur Mangao, head of Task Fore Batman, told GMANews.TV that investigators were still conducting fact-finding activities, even though two to three witnesses already identified Oliver Baldonado Antoc as one of those involved in the killing of radio broadcaster Fernando “Batman” Lintuan.
