Yes, it’s a Wildlife, everyday is a wildlife. Just like my previous entry, it talks about one of the wild situations in our daily life :-)
But WILDLIFE is also out in the market, that’s the 2nd album of Pupil. The band has finally released their awaited second album with their new drummer Wendell Garcia. Garcia performed with the band for the first time last July 26 at Hard Rock Cafe, Makati City. I’ve checked at the malls here in Davao, the stores here say the stocks have yet to arrive anytime soon. This a story about a passenger and an Army solider at the bus terminal in Ecoland, Davao City. This is not a fairy tale story nor a fable. Maybe, fable in some ways because there are characters in this story who are animals in their own way.
Sundalo: “Abi, dalha na dire bag mo.”
Traveler: “Sir, camera na ha?” (Pina bira gamay ug mejo di maayo paggunit sa bag)
Sundalo: “Buy-i ba kay tanawon ko!” (mejo taas boses)
Traveler: Hinay lang ba kay camera na! (mejo syagit pud pasahero kay camera gud pero di gyud nya buy-an ang bag kay naa gud camera ) Continue Reading »

Published at the Mindanao Times last Saturday, September 22. The original version of this story was my final project for newsgathering subject at the Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University.
Amy Cabusao, editor-in-chief of the Mindanao Times, also shared that she was pregnant then when she first saw Yano live at the Bistro 70s sometime in the early 90s. She recalled Eric and Dong were still reading the lyrics of “Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo” lyrics shortly before the gig. Continue Reading »

Since I can’t afford to get that Timex watch, I just bought an ORIGINAL copy of Sino Sikat’s debut album arner Music Philippines which contains 10 soulful-jazzy-funky-rock-ish cuts. I’ve seen them live for the first time at the Hard Rock Cafe in Makati City last July 26. I think they played a set only before Pupil went onstage.
Sino Sikat’s music is influenced by jazz, liitle bit of blues and rock. The album is great, some songs are feet-stomping while are too mellow. But it’s still nice. If you want to relax, in a sense that you don’t have to sleep, better listen to this album. Their’s first track on the album, “Akin Ka” is obviously jazzy piece.

Since 1993, I’ve been a fan of the Pinoy rock music. It was then the era of Yano and Eraserheads, they reigned the airwaves. Almost every morning, I could hear most of their famous songs. Well, aside from those legendary bands, I was (and even until now) also a fan of many Pinoy rock of the 90s — Wolfgang, The Youth, Datu’s Tribe, FrancisM, Rivermaya, POT, Razorback, among others.
I regret that I lost most of the tapes I had before. Only few of those tapes left today. It would have been one my best treasures. During those high school days, I used to collect different albums of any Pinoy rock artists. But when I was in college, most of them were borrowed permanently! Continue Reading »

While waiting for the printing of photos at the mall yesterday, I had a chance to check the latest Timex watches at the ground floor. I saw an Outdoor watch of Timex, as much as I wanted to get it as a belated gift for my birthday, I can’t buy it even if I can afford it. It’s just P2,290. It’s almost the same as my Expedition. The only difference is that it’s water resistant at 100m. My current watch is just 50m. And I like the silver compass directional ring and the strap also is quite better than my current Expedition watch. But all I could do was to to hold it for a minute.

While most of the photojournalists put card readers, extra batteries, cleaning cloth, USB cables and camera accessories in their pouches, for me you can’t just find these stuff in G-Pouch. I also have little things in my pouch that could make me feel HIGH once I take it. It makes me HIGH and DRY, which means I need to rest. So lemme know if you wanna ride with me!
