Carpark escapade

After shooting for Katakus’ products exhibit at SM Entertainment plaza, I dropped by at the carpark (lot C) at the back of the mall to check the live band as well as the place itself. Globe telecommunications company is the main sponsor of the enclosed gimmick area.
I was there to shoot but I didn’t expect that the sound was good. I’d rarely hear good sounds of the locally organized gigs in Davao. Most of the time, I’m frustrated with the poor sound engineering in most of the concerts here in Davao. But last night was so far the best sound I’ve ever heard in local gig.

The band — Keyk — added more rejuvenating atmosphere to stay and shoot for more photos! They were awesome, so far, they were one of the great local bands I’ve seen. They started few cover songs from Sandwich then later they pounded the night with their own o
riginal compositions. The guitars were great as well as the musical arrangement. Of course, the melody. They also have their own rendition of Yano’s “Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo” minus the “hi..hi…hi” part. For me, they are better than 1017, which has already produced their own album.
While some guitarists headbang, jump or even run and roll on the stage, I like the side sway move of one of Keyk’s guitarists. It’s rare for a rock band to do that. I find it pretty funny but it’s nice to see that guy like ballroom dancing.
While watching them, I spotted Paljet on his store callled Skye26 Creative Productions., which happened to be the events organizer too under John Irene. Both are my fellow Sandawans. I grabbed a bottle of beer and tried their Kilawin Maskara…laaaaami kaayo bai! So when you’re at the SM carpark, look for Skye26 stall. It’s on the left side when you’re facing the stage.
LAMI NI BAI! Kilawin Maskara for only P55
As I was almost leaving, I was frustrated by the next band. I don’t know who they were but I just hate it…because they played RnB. Not my cup of coffee. The organizers should have let the RnB band played first then let the Keyk finish the night to keep the energy of the event.

But anyway, generally the place is great. The sound is great. Don’t miss Parokya ni Edgar and Kamikazee on the 18th, if I’m not wrong. Then Sugar Free on the 19th to wrap up Kadayawan sa Dabaw in this area. I hate to say this but Six Cyclemind is also coming for the grand finals of the battle of the bands on the 17th. I’m no fan of pogi rock band like the latter. We’d rather check Imago at Jack’s ridge on Friday night.
